The YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region is Ottawa’s leading resource for health, fitness, recreation, child care, and social services. With a 145 year history in Ottawa, the Y is one of the most respected charities in our community.

The Strengthening the Heart of our Community Capital Campaign will help meet the growing needs of our community by expanding and developing key facilities, programs and services so that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow and thrive.

Together, we can strengthen the heart of our community.
The Capital Campaign, like the Y, is all about people.
The National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA is inviting its members, staff, community partners, friends and new supporters to come together for this exciting challenge.
And to date, the Strengthening the Heart of Our Community capital campaign has raised over $11.6 million - 77% of our $15 million goal.
Money raised will help the Y revitalize the Argyle Avenue location, a gathering place for downtown Ottawa’s diverse urban clientele. Through licensed child care, employment training, language assessment and providing emergency shelter, this facility, now the Taggart Family YMCA-YWCA, is the flagship of the National Capital Region Y.
Money raised will also be used to expand the Orleans location, now the Ruddy Family YMCA-YWCA, by 20,000 sq ft, allowing the Y to provide convenient, quality services close to home in one of Canada’s fastest-growing communities.
And money raised will be used to redevelop the Bonnenfant Y Outdoor Education and Leadership Centre, ensuring that future generations will benefit from leadership training, an appreciation of nature, and the opportunity to be active outdoors. This camp will be equipped to serve more than 5,000 children a year.
