the Orleans Branch

Target: Be of greater service to people of all ages, with emphasis on the needs of families and older adults.

The Orléans Y opened in 1996 and has rapidly grown to more then 2,700 members. One of Canada’s fastest-growing communities with a population over 100,000, Orléans has had a stunning 16%, six-year growth rate between 2001 and 2007.

The Y plays a major role in enhancing the quality of life in Orléans and its neighbourhoods. On average, 800 people walk through our doors each day in Orléans. Last year we served 90 families in child care; 200 in day camps; and more than 4,000 families and kids in fitness classes and community sports leagues, just to name a few of our most popular programs.

Expansion is needed to meet growing demand and to provide convenient, quality services close to home.

Your gift will help to provide:

Over 20,000 square feet of additional floor space;
A six-lane swimming pool with a shallow play area for kids;
A 7,000-square-foot gymnasium;
Exercise and personal training areas, including a women’s-only area;
A youth drop-in centre;
A youth health centre;
A children’s play area;
New lobbies;
Additional meeting rooms;
Additional locker rooms;
Enlarged child care area;
Enlarged aerobics studio;
Enlarged free weight room.

Expansion of the Orléans Y will help to ensure the community’s overall health and its continued economic growth. People of all ages will be served with emphasis on the needs of families and senior citizens.

The expansion will allow us to launch new programs such as member basketball, member volleyball, adult leagues, member walking and running (including clubs), youth fitness, and “boot camp” style classes. Also, it will allow us to improve existing programs such as Tae Kwon Do, cycling, preschool gym classes, aerobics/adult fitness classes, group strength training, member wellness facilities—cardio and strength, youth sports, babysitting services, and Y-Zone.

Expanding the Orléans Branch will help us be of greater service to more families—we’ll serve more than 15,000 individuals or 10% of the population.
