On the Ottawa River

Target: Ensure that future generations can benefit from leadership training, outdoor education, environmental appreciation and outdoor activities.

For over a century, the day camps and summer camps of the National Capital Region Y have inspired children and young people, helping them escape the city, develop new life skills and form lasting friendships.

Bonnenfant Y Outdoor Education and Leadership Centre

This co-ed camp covers 130 acres along the Ottawa River and first opened to area kids and families in 1947.  Thousands of children and adults have spent summer days or winter weekends here.

The Bonnenfant Y Outdoor Education and Leadership Centre will be converted to a new centre of excellence in Leadership and Outdoor Education, accommodating up to 300 people at a time and serving more than 5,000 children a year.

Your donation will help to:

  • winterize sleeping accommodation for up to 200 participants and 70 staff, suitable for adult and youth groups
  • redevelop the waterfront, including boathouse and swimming areas
  • add four day camp buildings - one of which will convert to a Ski Centre in the winter
  • improve the sports field, ropes courses and nature education facilities.
