The Y has been a member of the Ottawa community since before Confederation.

Fourteen or more rooms of emergency housing were full each and every night at our Y in 2008. 

The first game of volleyball played in Canada was played at our Y.

Our Y cared for 700 children last year through its high-quality, licensed, not-for-profit, child care program.

Young women used to arrive at Camp Davern – our Y’s camp for girls – by train back in the 1940s.

The site of our Y’s Metro Central Branch was home of the original Ottawa Senators hockey team.

Our Y provides overflow accommodation for all of the city’s shelters.

Carleton University began as a college with night courses offered by the Y.

By 2011, more than 50% of all new Canadians arriving in Ottawa will have contact with our Y.

The National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA serves some 70,000 people at 32 program locations across our region.
