Chairs' Message

Dear Friends,

Walk into any one of the Y’s 26 program locations and you’ll be amazed by the diversity of its people and the range of its programs. 

Across the region, the Y serves over 75,000 people a year, providing our community with innovative and fun programs.  Programs that strengthen the spirit, mind, and body of kids, teens, families, and seniors. 

Inside its doors you’ll find kids engaged in learning activities, recent immigrants adjusting to their new surroundings and building new lives, young people developing skills and leadership abilities, and adults from all walks of life building fitness and lifelong health.

For our family, the Y has been an integral part of our lives through the generations: our mother, Muriel, served on the Board of Directors back in the 1950s; all of our siblings have participated in various programs; and currently, many of our children and grandchildren now join us as members of the Y.

Our family has always believed that no other charitable organization provides the level, quality and variety of programs and services that the Y offers. We see firsthand how the core values of the Y – caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and inclusiveness – are delivered daily through the Y’s mission and impact in the community.

For over 140 years, the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA has built strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.

We urge you to take part in this challenge. We need the support and involvement of the entire community to help the Y achieve this new vision.
