Chairs' Message
Dear Friends,
Walk into any one of the Y’s 32 program locations and you’ll be amazed by the diversity of its people and the range of its programs.
Inside its doors you’ll find kids engaged in learning activities, recent immigrants adjusting to their new surroundings and building new lives, young people developing skills and leadership abilities, and adults from all walks of life building fitness and lifelong health.
Across the region, the Y serves over 69,000 people a year, providing our community with innovative and fun programs. Programs that strengthen the spirit, mind, and body of kids, teens, families, and seniors. Programs that improve the health of individuals... promote child and youth development... facilitate individual self-reliance... and develop healthier communities and vital neighbourhoods.
As long-time residents of this community, our family has supported many good causes over the years, but the one we admire most is the Y. And today we hold a bold vision for its future. We see an updated and modernized Y designed to meet the community needs of today and tomorrow. We see a Y with expanding, cutting-edge programs teaching values, promoting healthy lifestyles, and improving the lives of even more young people, families, and older adults. We see an ever-stronger Y continuing its tradition of building strong kids, strong families, and a strong community.
Throughout its more than 140-year history in the National Capital Region, the Y has offered hope, opened doors, encouraged self-improvement, trained leaders, and stepped forward to work with others to solve community problems. The Y’s impact on our community has been immense. Its activities and programs have grown to influence the lives of thousands—young and old, rich and poor, of all races and every creed.
We believe no other organization offers the level, the quality, and the variety of programs that the Y does. But with aging facilities and growing demand for our programs and services, we must modernize, refurbish, and expand our National Capital Region Y. We must prepare this invaluable resource for its next generation of vital service to our community.
We urge you to take part in this challenge. We need the support and involvement of the entire community if we are to achieve our new vision. By supporting our campaign to Strengthen the Heart of Our Community, you can be certain the National Capital Region Y will continue to make a very real difference in the quality of life of our community. Please join us.
Sincerely,
