Committed to Donors

At the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA, our donors are very important.
Our donors are the cornerstone of the Y and its future.  Donations help ensure that the Y continues to provide the high-quality and accessible health, fitness and social services our community needs.

The National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA and its Capital Campaign are committed to:

  • working closely with our donors to ensure their wishes and expectations in giving are met through the Capital Campaign’s Donor Recognition Program;
  • treating donors respectfully and with gratitude for their generosity and support;
  • managing carefully all fundraising costs to ensure maximum benefit to our community;
  • providing timely reports on how we use the funds we raise to ensure transparent management of all contributions;
  • ensuring the accuracy of all communication materials to confirm they correctly reflect our mission and accurately protray our donors and their stories;
  • making sure our donors are informed about the tax implications of their contributions;
  • preparing and issuing official income tax receipts for monetary gifts and for gifts in kind, in full compliance with all regulatory requirements;
  • keeping privileged or confidential information within the Y, not releasing it to unauthorized parties;
  • adhering to the letter and spirit of all aspects of confidentiality laws; and
  • upholding the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice and Imagine Canada’s Financial Accountability standards.
