The latest news about the campaign...

Thank You to all runners, walkers, donors and volunteers involved with the 2010 Y Ascent for Kids!

Almost 200 Y Trailblazers and volunteers were involved in our Y Ascent for Kids event this year (May 29-30, 2010)! The Y was a destination charity for the Ottawa Race Weekend, which meant we could raise funds for ourselves - in this case, we raised money to help build Y Kids Zones at the Metro Central Y and the Ruddy Family Center in Orleans. The Y was represented in all of the races except the Wheelchair Marathon! Many thanks to the walkers and runners for their fundraising efforts!

The Y also staffed a double water station for the half and full marathons at the corner of Sussex and King Edward bright and early Sunday morning. Become a fan of the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA on FaceBook to see pictures of the Y Trailblazers and volunteers! Visit us at www.yascentforkids.ca for information about our cause.

Doug and Judi’s Y Get Fit Challenge!

Doug Feltmate and Judi Cane, both volunteers with the Orleans Y Campaign Committee, want to live healthier and enjoy a more active life with their families. They have issued a challenge – for every pound they lose, they will raise $1000 towards the $1 million Orleans community goal for the Ruddy Family Centre YMCA-YWCA. On April 1, 2010, they were weighed in, measured and met their Y trainers at the Ruddy Family Centre YMCA-YWCA. The Y is helping them in their fitness goals by providing access to a trainer, equipment, and a fitness program geared to their individual needs.

Support Doug and/or Judi through their journey to fitness! And come back often for updates and photos!
